خط السير يومًا بيوم

  1. Morning transfer to the Turkmen–Uzbek border “Shavat”

In the morning, drive to the Shavat border checkpoint between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

09:00 – 10:00 — Border crossing and meeting with your Turkmenistan guide

After completing the border formalities, meet your Turkmenistan guide (usually between 09:00 and 10:00, at the latest) and continue the journey toward northern Turkmenistan.

Drive to Kunya Urgench (150 km / approx. 1.5 hours)

Travel through the desert landscapes to reach Kunya Urgench, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important historical cities of the medieval Khorezm Empire.

    Sightseeing tour in Kunya Urgench

Explore the remarkable monuments of this ancient Silk Road city, including:

    Portal of the Caravansaray

    Mamun Minaret

    Il Arslan Mausoleum

    Sultan Tekesh Mausoleum

    Academy of Khorezm

Kutlug Timur Minaret – the tallest minaret in Central Asia

Turabek Hanum Mausoleum, famous for its beautiful tilework and architecture.

Drive to the Darvaza Gas Crater (280 km / approx. 5 hours)

After the excursion, continue driving across the vast Karakum Desert toward the famous Darvaza Gas Crater, widely known as the “Door to Hell.”

This unique natural phenomenon appeared in 1971, when Soviet geologists accidentally drilled into an underground gas cavern. To prevent the spread of methane gas, it was ignited—expecting it to burn out quickly—but the crater has been burning continuously ever since.

Arrival at Darvaza – evening experience

Upon arrival, enjoy the spectacular view of the burning crater, especially impressive after sunset when the flames illuminate the desert night.

    BBQ dinner at Darvaza

Enjoy a BBQ dinner near the crater, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Karakum Desert.
