Although the Amazon rainforest is the most famous eco vacation destination in Brazil, you won't see most of the animal species there. Your best chance to discover Brazil's wildlife is on one of the many Pantanal tours that are offered across the country.
Pantanal is a unique ecosystem, in one of the most fascinating regions in the world: 230,000 square kilometers that form a biological oasis of wildlife and the largest water-covered plain in the world. Around 650 species of birds, 230 species of fish, 80 species of mammals, 50 species of reptiles and countless species of insects are waiting to be discovered by you.
For wildlife-spotting, the dry season (June-October) is undoubtedly the best time to visit the Pantanal. The water has receded and the animals come out from the deeper and more inaccessible parts of the wetlands and cluster around the waterholes.
The peak of the rainy summer season (November to March) is still a great time to visit as it's quintessentially Pantaneiro in its lush landscape. This is when the rivers overflow and flood the lowlands, making most of Pantanal only accessible by aeroplane or boat.

This zone has the greatest plant life concentration in all of Latin America, so the ride is sure to offer incredible views.
In Pantanal, you will be staying in a fazenda, a traditional farm, where you will spend the next few nights surrounded by nature.
From the airport we go to Poconé, our starting point for the well known transpantaneira. The street is not asphalted, towards the lodge. In this route we already have the chance to see several animals like: kaimans, capybaras, tuiuiú. etc.
Upon arrival at the lodge, depending on the time, lunch will be served followed by a siesta. At the end of the afternoon we will take a walk on one of our trails in the expectation of seeing more animals, dinner will be served at the pousada.
After dinner if you wish we will take a hike in search of nocturnal animals. We advise you not to forget to bring your flashlight along.

Regular shared transfers (Cuiabá > Araras > Cuiabá) operate daily from Cuiabá Airport at 1:20 PM and 5:00 PM. It is possible to arrange a private transfer at an additional cost if you arrive at other times. Alternatively, we suggest considering spending the night in Cuiabá before departure to ensure a smooth and stress-free start to your journey.
